Promoting self-love! We see it everywhere on social media yet what does it really speak to a person. Self-love? Love yourself as you are? Change your ways for better, slim you weight, add some weight, eat healthier, be natural? Do you care, or do you care that I care, or she cares or your family and friends? Out of all of these words, I see flaws, I hear doubt and I smell fear. Words of affirmations HELP promote self-love because upgrading YOU will ultimately make YOU love YOU. I see it differently.
Firstly, to me self-love is not someone else advocating suggestions about your image to help you learn to love yourself. Self-security is the most important. Too many people are looking for security in relationships, jobs and even possessions. You must be secure with yourself, you must first fall in love with YOU.
Loving yourself is a process. A person is evolving daily and with doing so you have to take time to reintroduce yourself to YOU first. About 5 years ago I went through a real tough time. During that time I became very much depressed and battling social anxiety. I spent a lot time with myself and began to really learn myself, learn my body, my emotions, my thoughts my true authentic ME. In dealing with my introvertedness I had to become familiar with my negatives, my shortcomings my passions and my enjoyments.
Self-love is a struggle for everyone. In my humble opinion there is not a true definition to describe it. My only advice is to let go of expectations.
