Prayers For Houston

8/25/17 The beginning of a historical moment and one of the saddest times I have ever experienced created by Category 4 Hurricane Harvey. Many things I wish could have played out differently. Damage was expected but damaged hearts was not. The city of Houston is pretty much under water and the sight is nauseating. There were many mistakes made in preparation for this storm. Honestly, it would have been hard to evacuate some 6 million odd people and send them God knows where considering the nearest safe zone was 6 hours or more away. This storm was so unpredictable. People Evacuated from their homes that once was considered comfort. The chaos is imaginable but the disarray is mind boggling.

My family is extremely lucky to not have had to experience losing our belongings and standing on the roof of our home for hours in need of rescuing. Houston is not where I am originally from but it is a place I now call home; and despite all the negative things going on in the world, during this time, no one cared about what bathroom one used or what Trump tweeted, rescuers did not ask sexual orientation before helping and most of all no one cared if it was a black, white or hispanic mans arms that saved the lives of helpless people and animals. My city is pulling together and leaning on each other for help. Love is circulating through the air and in the midst of the fear, it feels beautiful.
